These pictures were taken at various times, but were all edited in photoshop. Both of the outside pictures i took from the field trip to the U of A; the first one is a collaberation of two pictures i took in separate museums. i used layering to overlap the two pictures, to make it look like the black and white figure of a man had a splash of color to it. the other picture i duplicated the layer a couple of times so i could play with the hue/saturation and the brightness/contrast. the middle picture is one that i did a little bit ago, i thought i had put it in an earlier blog, but i guess i forgot, so i put it here. i used photoshop to create the arrangement of colors and the big text.

•May 12, 2008 • Leave a Commentthe affects i used in these photos are a few examples of why im going to miss being in my advanced photo class. i can’t really say what i did to these photos because usually when i open up a picture in photoshop i just experiment with the tools and come up with new ways to make my photos interesting, to me at least. that way i create a new experience every time i ‘develop’ a picture. Usually i’ll start off by duplicating the layers, and tuning their brightness/contrast and hue/saturation. from that it’s all a blur of clicking tools and seeing what looks flippin’ sweet..

A lot of my current photos are just simple picutres distorted in photoshop. for example, these particullar pictures were taken when we went to the U of A Art Museums. All three focus on some peices we saw, the second picture down, the water bottles painted with, well, paint, and the last one, with Jake standing up close, admiring the wall peice extensively. With al three of these photos, i made duplicate layers in photoshop and changed the Brightness/Contrast and the Hue/Saturation. Specifically, in the last one with Jake, i took another picture of the art work on the wall and copied & pasted it over the original picture.

•April 24, 2008 • Leave a CommentThese current pictures are of kevin and me; for ‘cactus man’ or kevin standing behind a big cactus outfront my house. cactus man was discovered while i was taking pictures for my graphic novel, by accident, so i thought it was pretty sweet. the one of me on the roof of my house, i editted in photoshop with both contrast/lightness and hue/saturation tools. i wanted the colors in this picture to be almost gloomy-looking.

my current pictures mostly consist of the people in my life, like my boyfriend, or patterns of things, for example the snaple bottles. as well as, random things that i try to minipulate or differ with the camera options and/or with photoshop. the snapple bottles were editted in photoshop with the saturation tool; this made the colors unnatural, which was the effect i was trying to get, along with a sort of fuzzy texture. the TV picture, i did by just moving the camera up and down as i took the picture. and since the background was all black, i didnt do anything to this picture in photoshop.

My Currents for this week are all in one basic catagory; people. With the pictures i took this week, i tried to find more of a raw effect to who i was taking pictures of. For the first one, i distorted the color/saturation a lot, to make more of a T.V. feel to it. I think the expressions on the faces of my models (Friends) are raw and true to reality. For the second one, i also distorted the color/saturation to make items of clothing etc. stick out more. I really like the fact that you can see the whole body except for the head. And lastly, for the third one i made the light rays brighter to make a bolder effect and lightened the picture up as well, making it easier to look at intently.
